This is another PYO by that I painted with acrylics. Eyes are from Tohickon. Lots of love to for her pointers and assistance on this piece. Who knew shading a near black would be so difficult! I think she is finally done... I keep hemming and hawing on some rump markings I want to do... but I'm afraid I don't have the skill... but if I never do it, I'll never have the skill. I may have just talked myself into the attempt. Since she is sealed (mix of satin and matte) if it is horrible, I should be able to clean her up...
Very nice job. I really like the red coloring you used. Her detailing is lovely. I really like the red fetlocks and that you extended the 'black' on the base of her tail to the place where the tail hairs grow from. The antiquing you've done is really good too.
XD Thank you! Mixed the red out of other reds, including some metalic powders, and I didn't take any good pics of it, but I did use the red on the inside of her nostrils too.
Very cool. A lot of times I sort of ignore the inside of the nostrils (just end up painting the insides a dark color ^_^, but with this paint scheme using that red color inside the nostrils is a great choice!
Wow . . . that black with that eye is very striking!
Thank you! It isn't a true black, I mixed some argent metalic powder with it, so it is a really dark silvery grey. Unfortunately my lighting and cellphone could only catch so much. The pop with the eyes was a delightful surprise!
